Who's That Girl?

Thu 7th February 2008

In case you were wondering who the soulful singer at the launch of Valda's lingerie range this week was, look no further. The first professional act to grace the stage at Charlie's was none other than Australian singing sensation Robin Loau.

Robyn is well known in Oz as the lead singer of girl group Girlfriend (Australia's early equivalent to the Spice Girls) but these days she's a solo superstar whose haunting melodies are likened to performers such as Portishead and Neneh Cherry.

Robyn's forthcoming CD features tracks written with Skin from Skunk Anansie and Cameron McGlinchey. That means Robyn has another (slightly tenuous) Neighbours connection: Cameron is the drummer for the band Rogue Traders... and also the boyfriend of their lead singer, one Miss Natalie Bassingthwaighte.

The track that Robyn performed during this week's episode is called "She Devil" and is available now on ITunes UK and worldwide.
